Hello my fellow friends and followers!
I just got a comment from a reader advising that Near East Pilaf versions are not gluten-free!! In my City Bodega Post I showed a picture of 3 versions of Rice Pilaf from Near East and mentioned that all were gluten free. So I went to the website to check and found that the Chicken flavor that I posted is in fact not gluten free as there is Orzo in it, and that is from Durum Wheat. However, the original version as well as the Lentil versions do NOT contain gluten. But I wasn't convinced. After my friendly reader left me a comment regarding this I was nervous. So I contacted their customer service line and the representative mentioned to me that they cannot declare ANY of their products gluten free because their other products have wheat ingredients such as pasta and therefore may have exposure to wheat and gluten. Therefore, I must retract a portion of my post, and will edit this right away!
To my commenter! I do appreciate the callout! Thank you for pointing that out, the last thing I'd want to do is get you or anyone sick!! So thanks again!
Recap: Near East Products do not declare gluten-free on their packaging because their might be exposure to wheat during the processing.
