Mike and Ike Candy

When it comes to candy being gluten-free I am always skeptic!  It's hard to tell what actually is gluten-free from the imposters that pose as gluten-free and then after digesting you end up feeling sick.  Modified Food Starch is the culprit.  If the starch in MFS is corn based then you are ok, and it is gluten-free, but if it's not, then it's definitely not gluten-free.  In the past this was not always labeled, and therefore for the past 4 1/2 years of being gluten-free, I just steered clear.  Well, now with some products I don't have to.  Good news!  Mike and Ike candies are not only gluten-free but they confirm it on the box!!  Good stuff! Gluten-Free Watercooler-Soho Gardens

Hi all!  I found yet another gluten-free discovery a few weeks back, while working the Young Designers Market in Nolita, NYC.  I had little inclination to prepare lunch for myself, since I was working from 9am-7pm.  What was I to do when I got hungry?  Working a craft show in an area you are not familiar with tends to have its downfalls for gluten-free people like myself.  My friend sent me to the deli for sandwiches, which is clearly something I cannot have.  I can't have the bread, and then I have to worry if the deli slicer is contaminated. So that eliminates that choice.  Arrgh!  I do admit my Celiac sometimes gets in my way.  So I wandered into the deli/market called Soho Gardens in Soho, NYC.  This market appears to be a small and it from the outside looks like a run down deli.  But it's actually the opposite!  Upon walking in, I saw over 5 aisles of food, fresh and packaged.  This place was loaded with yummy...
