Gluten-Free Watercooler-Red Mango

I have done quite a few posts thus far on Red Mango, one of my favorite frozen yogurt spots that has signs all over their parlors on being gluten-free.  I love this spot.  I'm always stopping at my nearest location when I am visiting the rents in Long Island.  My favorite location is in Wheatley Plaza, Roslyn. Last time I was there I was so happy to see oodles of flavors like Coconut, Chocolate, Vanilla, Strawberry, Original, Coffee and others and always with a plethora of toppings. Nix the toppings right?  Because they are probably not gluten-free, but actually some are.  But not the good stuff right?  Not the cookies or the sprinkes.  Wait, hold up!  What's that you say?? The cookies are gluten-free? Say what? Word on the street and with the Manager of that location (not all locations carry this), that there is a young lady that started a gluten-free cookie and bakery company with her mom, both of which were diagnosed with Cel...

Mochi Ice Cream

Have you ever heard of Mochi?  Have you ever been out to a sushi or Japanese restaurant where they serve small circles that look like doughy balls filled with ice cream in the flavors of Red Bean, Strawberry, Mango, Chocolate, Green Tea, Lychee, Vanilla and other flavors?  They are often referred to as bubbies and they are colorful and pretty.  They almost look like frozen french macarons.   I was dining out at Sushi Seki tonight, one of my favorite amazingly divine sushi restaurants on the Upper East Side, exactly at 63th and 1st.  A small dive one would say as they walk by, but inside this small dive is an amazing chef and a great waitstaff.  Not every waiter understands the gluten-allergy at this fine establishment, but I have been there so many times, they are used to me, and the language card I present.  (I purchased two sets of Triumph Dinings Gluten Free Language Translation Cards , and I use them at restaurants that I know do no...

Pop Chips New Flavor

So I don't know about you, but I just love Pop Chips!  Another great snack that is gluten-free and can be bought at any store!  These snacks have become a staple anywhere from supermarkets to Hale and Hearty Soups!  Just one bag is 100 calories!  So much better then potato chips or a candy bar. I was in my local bodega in my office building when I noticed a new flavor!! Yay!  I bought it, eating it with my late lunch.  The new flavor is....Drum roll pls....... Parmesan Garlic Potato Enjoy! xoxo Julie www.goodiegoodiegluten-free.blogspot.com/

Gluten-Free Snacks on the Go

More and more.  More and more.  More and more, I am seeing the words Gluten-Free.  A breakthrough one might say.  I say bring it on.  Bring on the gluten-free, especially in the snacks department.  I am a working woman, and I like to bring my snacks to work.  It's hard when you step out for lunch and there is not much you can have.  And that always leads me to binge on something I should not be having.  No not, gluten, I don't dare go down that road, but I'll eat candy (GF of course).  But why resort to candy and crap when there are so many gf snacks to choose from? We always have to be prepared.  It's just the way it is.  How's that song go?  "It's just the way it is, some things never change...dah da de dah-take a walk down 80's music memory lane for a moment, I love that song. So if you know you are gluten-free and you want snacks bring them with you, and you won't ever have that problem of going back to somet...

Cinnamon French Toast with Honey-Vanilla Mascarpone

Another amazing recipe must have for your gf kitchen.  Now, let me remind you that this amazing writer does not write about gf, but her recipes are beyond the call of amazing, so I have converted them. According to Clodagh, French Toast is her all-time favorite brunch dish, especially when made with Brioche.  If you don't have Brioche, then just use good-quality white bread.  If you aren't a fan of cinnamon, then try some freshly grated nutmeg.  At her cafe, they also serve this with crispy bacon. Now if you are gluten-free try my favorite brands of GF breads such as Udi's , Rudi's , Katz GF Challah , Katz or Canyon Bakehouse . For the french toast 2/3 cup milk 4 eggs 2 tsp. ground cinnamon 8 slices of gf bread 1/2 stick of butter For the honey-vanilla mascarpone cream 3/4 cup + 2 tbsp. mascarpone 2 tbsp. honey 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract Put the milk, eggs, and cinnamon in a bowl and beat well.  Soak the bread slic...

City Snacks

A few months ago I happened to stop inside GNC to pick up some vitamins.  While at the counter ready to pay, I was thinking lunch.  I was hungry and saw a few snacks at the register-impulse items.  So glad those were there...City Snacks.  City Snacks are freeze dried fruit.  The ingredients are one.  There are so many fruits available from this brand like Peaches, Pears, Strawberries, Strawberry/Banana and more.  Each ingredient is 100% of each fruit, and that is all that is in them.  Which brings me to calories, if you are counting this is a great snack!  It's healthy, and is considered a serving of fruit, and its an easy snack.  Your kids will love them too! I like the Pears and the Peaches, I find the Strawberries and Strawberry/Banana a bit too tart for my taste.  They each run at about 50-60 calories for the entire bag!  So great! And even better?  Gluten-free, not fried, not baked, no sugar added,...
