Rose Bliss Smoothie

Hello Lovelies! Lately I have been skipping the frozen banana in my smoothies and going with something more crisp and light.  I am in heaven this season with the amazing organic apples the local farms have been growing, so I have been using lots of apples lately.  This smoothie is light, blissfully refreshing.  Hints of citrus and apples.  This is not a meal replacement by any means.  It's a perfect pre-drink to your a.m. breakfast. Actually-I make my smoothies the moment I wake up so I can take them in the shower with me.  I know that sounds weird, but sometimes after washing my hair, I take a seat in my shower and relax with a refreshing smoothie in a wine glass with a straw.  It makes me feel like I am on vacation on an island somewhere, under a waterfall.  It's quite nice and quite relaxing.  Try it.   1/2 large cucumber 1/2 cup unsweetened coconut milk 1 medium dessert apple 1/2 Tbsp-1 Tbsp. raw vegan coconut butter Juice from 1/2 lime Juice fro

Apple Cranberry Pie Smoothie

Hello Lovelies! I made this post yoga, pre brunch.  A little pick me up from Mother Nature.  This one was delightful.  Light.  Airy.  Tranquil… Pic can be found on Instagram: Follow me at: RosecoloredglassesJAR 1 large dessert apple  a small handful of fresh cranberries Juice from 1/2 of a lime 1 heaping Tbsp. Raw Coconut Butter 1/3 x 2 coconut milk (original flavor) 1 Tsp. Agave Nectar  1/2-1 Tsp. Lavender Extract Ice Helpful hints:  Choosing the dessert apple is important.  For this smoothie you want one that is tart.  I like: Winesap and Empire, but Gala, Macoun, Honey Crisp will do too. Lavender extract is very strong.  Start with the 1/2 Tsp. first.  Blend.  Taste.  If you want more, then add the other half.  If you use too much, it ends up tasting like you are eating flowers-and not in a good way. Add the ice last.  Get everything blended to your desire, and then add 4-5 ice cubes.  Blend again. Add a straw. Serve this up in a win

Gluten-Free Watercooler-Blue Smoke Restaurant

Yes please!  Oh how I love thee.  Ribs slathered in gluten free BBQ sauce!  A restaurant where I don't have to worry.   Blue Smoke has had gluten-free selections for as long as I can remember, and that also includes gluten free beers.  It's not a huge menu, but you have the option of 3-4 different kinds of BBQ ribs, a gluten-free beer selection and a few sides to choose from.  But it's BBQ and that's why I go there.  They are sooo good!   The waitstaff there is sooo so gluten free friendly.  They understand.  They are trained to understand.  And all you have to do is say you are gluten free.  No mix-ups at this dig! You must try this amazing spot!  Located on 116 E. 27th Street between Lexington and Park. Let me tease you with the meal I had last week… Enjoy Lovelies! xx Julie www.goodiegoodiegluten-free.blogspot.com

Farmer's Market Finds

One of my favorite things to do these days is to hit the Farmer's Market in Union Square, NYC on my Saturday afternoons.  It's therapeutic.  It's refreshing to meet such lovely people.  I get my vitamin D.  And I get my groceries for the next two weeks.  I stock up on organic veggies, fruits-sometimes Jams and wine.  I used to buy my produce at chain supermarkets, and wow, what a difference it makes if you buy organic and fresh.  I buy what's in season.  And what's in season usually tastes the BEST.   This time I bought fingerling potatoes and made a lovely potato side dish!  It was divine!  I bought Sunchokes and I cannot wait to roast those.  I bought Winesap apples and Empire apples.  Both are dessert apples that are juicy and tart just the way I like them.  I bought Kale, which I always buy there but this time experimented buying something new such as Bok Choy .  I'm excited to saute that.  This go round I made sure to stop at my favorite Jam stand fro
