Pear and Maple Yogurt Cups

Sergio's Pizza-Long Island

Formally known as Vogue Pizza, Serigo's has a fabulous menu.  And what's even better? The pizza (all pies), pasta and entrees (all) can be prepared gluten-free.  At first they just started with gf pasta (which most restaurants carry, so no surprise there), and then one day I called for some gf pasta, and they told me they had gf pizza and could do the entrees too!  Say what? I'm um super psyched?  Whenever I visit my parents out in Long Island, I always need a go-to take-out spot that I can order from without worrying that a mistake was made or that the person on the other end of the phone understands what gluten-free means.  I never have to worry with this place.  I even spoke to the manager the first go round and he assured me.  And I have NEVER been disappointed.  Right on! Now I should have blogged about Sergio's at least a year ago, because it has been that long that I have been eating from this restaurant.  And for those of you who live in Long Island

HotDog & Hamburger Bun Smack Down

A few months ago I was at BareBurger, Murray Hill location NYC, one of my fav super casual gf spots for burgers.  They have lettuce wraps there, and that is what I usually get, however they told me they brought in a brand of gf buns.  I asked what the ingredients were and they mentioned they were tapioca rice buns.  Blech!  Seriously?!  Why not go for the good stuff?  I applaud any restaurant that wants to bring in gluten-free, but why bring in the undesirable gluten-free buns?  I mean really!  I told the manager they were disgusting and that they should bring in the better brands.  He mentions that kids and other people with Celiac or a gluten allergy are just so happy to see they can have a GF bun, they don't notice that it doesn't taste so good.  Say what?  That is not an excuse.  I don't think so!  I noticed! My top favorite brands for hot dog and hamburger buns are: KATZ Udi's Gillian's Canyon Bakehouse Rudi's  (don't forget the hambur

Katz Donuts

Another fabulous brand comes out with gluten-free donuts.  I guess you could say I am in heaven!  I have always LOVED Kinnikinnick donuts, but with  Katz  you are looking at a lot of "free".  Free of gluten, dairy, soy and some are rice/corn free too! And what else is sooo great?  Katz is a strictly kosher manufacturer!! Try the  Custard Donuts  (210 calories/contains eggs) or the  Jelly Donuts  (210 calories/contains eggs) or even the  Powdered Donuts  (150 calories/contains eggs) !! They look spectacular!  Yum I cannot wait to try! Check out this handy  Store Locator  so you too can enjoy these spectacular goodies! Check out some of my other posts about Katz: April 2nd, 2010-Katz GF Post September 6th, 2010-Katz GF Post Now I have to say, I do NOT love all gluten-free goodies.  And some manufacturers I do wonder how they made it this far with their horrid tasting products.  But Katz is so different!!  There is not one item that I don't
