Risotteria Pizza Mix

Great pizza mix guys!  Risotteria is a Italian restaurant in the West Village that is gluten-free.  They have been around long before gluten-free became widespread.  Their food is fantastic and it's so good they have a line of mixes!   Risotteria 's Pizza mix is awesome!  The outcome tastes so good. The good thing about mixes is that you can keep them for up to a year.  Many months ago I had gone to Risotteria  in the West Village for dinner, and bought their Pizza dough baking mix.  So when I was designing my menu for last night I was excited that I still had it.  I was also a little nervous.  I have never made a pizza before.  The recipe was easy.  All I had to do was add in 1 1/2 cups of warm water, 2 tsp. of Olive Oil and 2 tsp. of Cider Vinegar.  Not too hard to follow at all. I have to say this was cool.  I was completely experimenting in my kitchen with no experience in making pizza. The dough texture was different then cookie dough texture.  It w

Glutino

One of my favorite gluten-free brands is Glutino.  They seem to have some of the greatest products that include Pizza, frozen dinners, breakfast bars, cookies, wafer cookies, pretzels and more.  These pretzels taste so good that my co-workers and younger brother and friends all dig in as if they were regular pretzels.  My brother says you can't taste the difference and my co-workers say they like the consistency and texture better then regular pretzels. Glutino Pretzels come in two sizes: the standard snack size, and the family size which is what you see above.  Not only are they gluten-free, but also wheat-free, casein-free and egg-free!  Glutino Pretzels come in twists as above, sticks sesame twists and chocolate covered both dark and white.  Yum!  Another one of my fav products from Glutino are their frozen bagels that come in plain, poppy, sesame and cinnamon raisin. These bagels are great toasted and are microwaveable.  Glutino products can be found at m

2 Fabulous Gluten-Free Bread Crumb Brands

There are two brands of gluten-free breadcrumbs that I really enjoy using.   Aleia's and Gillians.  Both equally delicious but made differently. Aleia's bread crumbs are very fine and contain white rice flour, corn starch, tapioca flour, brown sugar, potato flour, brown rice flour, eggs, salt, canola oil, nonfat dry milk, garlic powder, yeast, whey, guar gum and herbs.  Her bread crumbs are gluten and wheat free and made in a dedicated gluten-free facility.  She has two delicious versions: Italian and Plain.   I love using the plain version because I then add my own herbs and spices.   The packaging looks like this: The second brand I really enjoy is called  Gillian's Bread Crumbs  and her products are Gluten-Free, Wheat-Free AND Lactose-Free. She makes her products in a Gluten-Free, Wheat-Free, Peanut Free and Nut-Free kitchen.  These breadcrumbs have a lot of great flavor.   Her breadcrumbs are coarser looking, with a yellowish coloring, and

Alcohol and Beer: What is Gluten-Free?

I have been posting a lot of feedback on the zillion Celiac fan pages and group pages on Facebook, and one of the many questions I come across is regarding GF alcohol.  Which mixes are gluten-free, which hard liquors are gluten-free, what beer is GF and what is not.  There seems to be many articles and lists online, so I am here to blog about it. Of course I love to blog about recipes and food products, but this is definitely a common topic that is worth discussing. Here are a few links that I have found from the internet on GF alcohol lists that may be of help to those in question: GF ALCOHOL LISTS:  http://www.celiac.com/articles/222/1/Gluten-Free-Alcoholic-Beverages/Page1.html http://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/index.php?autocom=blog&blogid=27&showentry=85 There are some on these lists that I don't agree with.  For example in many dessert liquors there is caramel coloring and caramel coloring has under 20ppm gluten according to the FDA.  Though

Gluten-Free Restaurants FRANCE

I am a member of Gluten-Free Faces.  This is a website that is simular to Facebook dedicated to those with Celiac or a Gluten-Intolerance.  They have forums and groups you can join.  Most recently I posted a question if anyone knew of some great GF restaurants in Paris and Nice.  I am going there with my mom (who is Celiac) and my sister in May.  So far I got a few great suggestions that I would like to share for those who are traveling.  I got most of this info from the website attached to this post: Celiac Handbook France , but there are so many of us who don't want to float from website to website, so I have done the work for you.  You can scroll down below and find the info or you can click away. One woman responded: Here is a list for Paris. It is mostly shops, but there are some restaurants as well, hope it helps: http://www.specialgourmets.com/index/show-results-list/requester/li...   I checked this list, and there are about 57 options with many restaurants.  This is wo
