News just in! For those of you that live near the Supermarket Wegmans, you guys are in luck! Besides markets like Westerly and Whole Foods, I'd like to invite another supermarket revelation! Wegmans, a huge market retailer which has various locations, including Syracuse, NY has an entire gluten-free section dedicated to the foods we can love!
For a list of their Gluten-Free Products, click HERE
Their website can even help all of you who are "gluten-free NEWBIES", with a Video on going gluten-free, or FAQ on Celiac Disease or a Gluten-Intolerance, helpful aids on shopping gluten-free, support groups and additional resources and even Shopping GF and gluten-free cooking and meal plans. This market is a one-stop-shop to all of your gluten-free needs both mentally and physically!
Extra, extra read all about it! Now in your nearest market or New York City Bodega you too can find these great chips! I work in the garment district and recently a co-worker mentioned to me that she found these great gluten-free tortilla chips (it's a cracker too)! with hints of natural flavors like olives, cheddar, sweet potato and others in our bodega market in our building! I decided to buy then and have a taste.
Yes, I would agree it tastes like a chip but also a cracker, as their motto goes. I tried the Black and Green Olive tortilla chip as well as the White Cheddar and I have to admit I finished the bag. My co-workers have tried the Sweet Potato chips and they fell in love. Well, not love, but FOOD LOVE.
Gotta love my 'gluten' friends spreading the gluten-free love.
So get this! While recently trying a new gluten-free product, I stumbled upon this brands website. Wowee! This company just introduced Gluten-Free Ice Cream Cones! These cones are Dairy-Free, Nut-Free and Soy-Free (and Kosher Parve). Being that the three I just mentioned are the top major allergens, it's great that they are free of the bad stuff and made with the good stuff.
Now I have been gluten-free for the past 4 years and I have since then never had ice cream on a Gluten-Free cone. This is sad, I know. Going gluten-free, you sometimes in the beginning have to give up or sacrifice your favorite pastimes. It's something you have to do for the lifestyle, and hopefully down the road you learn to convert, discover and re-invent.

Hi all! I found yet another gluten-free discovery a few weeks back, while working the Young Designers Market in Nolita, NYC. I had little inclination to prepare lunch for myself, since I was working from 9am-7pm. What was I to do when I got hungry? Working a craft show in an area you are not familiar with tends to have its downfalls for gluten-free people like myself. My friend sent me to the deli for sandwiches, which is clearly something I cannot have. I can't have the bread, and then I have to worry if the deli slicer is contaminated. So that eliminates that choice. Arrgh! I do admit my Celiac sometimes gets in my way. So I wandered into the deli/market called Soho Gardens in Soho, NYC. This market appears to be a small and it from the outside looks like a run down deli. But it's actually the opposite! Upon walking in, I saw over 5 aisles of food, fresh and packaged. This place was loaded with yummy treats, fruits, groceries and more! So i went through the isles, never thinking I would find gluten-free products in a commercial deli, yet I was wrong again. To my surprise they had an array of gluten-free products including crackers, chips, candy, yogurt and more! I was even more shocked to see Mary's Gone Gone Crackers, Rice Crackers, Asian GF crackers, GF cereals and more. Dream come true I swear!
This is a great place for travelers passing by, shoppers or even a great place to do your grocery shopping!
So if you are ever in the Nolita/Soho, NYC area, stop on by to Soho Gardens located on the corner of Mulberry and Prince Street. (212) 941-5973
