A Gluten-Free Taste Of THAI

I found these at Fairway Market, the new one that just opened up in Murray Hill, NYC...Awesome!  My mom had told me about them so I bought two.  To try.  For my blog of course. What's so great is that they don't have many calories, they are really good, all you need to make it is water and a microwave, because the packaging it comes in acts as the package you use, microwave safe. It took me about 4 minutes to make.   First you open the package and remove everything inside.  Fill the carton to the inside line.  The packaging says 1 cup, but I think it's really about 1 cup and a splash or two to meet the line.  Then you microwave it for 3 minutes with the water and the pasta, lid not closed.  Then you add in the other ingredients and sauce for an additional minute.  Then you take it out of the microwave (careful its hot) and add the peanuts.  And then it's done and ready to eat (it will be steaming).  It looked a little watery at first, but then after

GF Ice Cream Cones

It's been soooo long since I even had a wafer cone, I was shocked to find them.  And they are delicious!  In fact I could eat them without the ice cream and still enjoy them.  Thankful for Goldbaums cones.  Stock up because they rock! Enjoy! xoxo Julie www.goodiegoodiegluten-free.blogspot.com

Absolutely Gluten-Free-Everything Flatbread

As far as gluten-free crackers go, this brand is fantastic!  When it comes to gluten-free products out there you really have to scout out and taste test to find your needle in a haystack so to speak.  They are delicious.  These crackers are great not just for snacks but for making a sandwich with a cracker!  They don't fall apart, and they can hold the toppings and spreads. And what I really like about these crackers is their ingredients.  There are only a few ingredients and they are natural.  No additives or fillers. Wanna fall in love with these crackers?  Find out more here! Yummy!  Thumbs up! Enjoy!! xoxo Julie www.goodiegoodiegluten-free.blogspot.com

Gluten-Free Watercooler-Pastis Restaurant

Even though Pastis is my favorite restaurant of all time, easy back-up spot, great location etc..., I always have to be super careful!  There are only a few select things I can have on this menu and this list is diminishing. Upon going gluten-free I went to Pastis ...Years ago.  The waitress I had told me the french fries were gluten-free.  She said they were fried separately.  (I had mysteriously gotten sick after). I later found out that was a myth.   The following time I went there, I spoke with the manager.  They are not gluten-free.  They are not fried separately.   Most recently I went with a friend of mine for brunch and I ordered what I always get, the bar steak.  Plain.  With scrambled eggs.  Easy.  My friend got the Chicken Paillard and the waiter mentioned to me that I could not share her dish, because the sauce from the chicken is dusted with flour. Seriously!?  Grilled chicken Paillard uses flour?  Geez Louise, A. Thank you for telling me, so news to me

Lip Tar-Gluten Free and Vegan Lipstick

For the last few years lipstick has been an issue for me.  I have had 2 coral lipsticks that I have had forever by 2 different brands that seem to do the trick.  These are the only ones I have worn for years, because they were "safe" - A Peach Coral lipstick stick by Chanel, and a old Mac stick called Kid Kat (and sadly Kid Kat stick broke off while applying it one time and landed on the floor, so now I don't even use that one anymore)-these seemed to be the only two I could wear-reaction free. I tried Nars glosses and wands (those made my lips swollen and tingly, and the following day red), I tried other Mac Lip Glass (Lip Glass is beyond out, it really made my lips swollen) , gloss and wands and even their sticks proved to be a little drying (something I guess my lips could tolerate when I was younger, and now cannot), I have tried French fancy brands, as well as Dior and even cheap drug store brands like Revlon gloss wands (those just made my lips feel chapp

Gluten-Free Watercooler-The Smith Restaurant

First I tweeted it.  Then I facebooked it, and now I'm finally gonna blog about it.  Alert!   The Smith Restaurant in NYC which has three locations in NYC serves up the best Brussels sprouts ever!  Every time I go there I get them, because the waitress has always said they are gluten-free.  I mean they are veggies, why wouldn't they be gluten-free?  And I always asked the right questions. Though...I never end up feeling so great after and I would always wake up with a totally huge welt or crazy break-out that would need a cortisone injection asap (with my amazing Dermatologist Dr. Jacqueline Beer ) on my face.  I always thought it was the red wine-tannins. Nope.  Shocking news: they are NOT gluten-free.  Yup you heard me!  A restaurant that takes pride in understanding the gluten-free lifestyle has missed a step-as many restaurants do. I was just at The Smith last week and I ordered the usual-Salmon with Brussels Sprout.  'Says the waiter, oh you have a glute

Spruce Up Your Coffee

Missing those super yummy flavored coffee's, lattes and frappuccinos from Starbucks and other coffee spots?  (If you are enjoying them.  Stop, cuz they are not gluten-free.  Remember Carmel coloring equals gluten symptoms such as hair loss.  If you know my blog, you know that I always blog about caramel coloring (not to be confused with actual candy caramel).  Caramel coloring is one of those hidden gluten ingredients.  Steer clear.)  If you are following the rules of the gluten-free diet then most likely you are missing those fabulous drinking treats. So I have some solutions. Cardamom Pods Recently I bought Cardamom Pods from the market.  They come in a soft shell that you can break open.  Inside lies a few little seeds from the cardamom pod.  These seeds are known to be used in baking but are also great in coffee as the back of the package states.  Add those seeds to your coffee, and just let them sit or dissolve (though they never truly dissolve), but they provi

Gluten-Free Gossip-Allure Magazine Talks About Gluten-Free

Hey everyone!   Be sure to catch this amazing article from Allure Magazine on The Gluten-Free Diet published in their January 2013 issue!  The article is called Give It Up-Body-conscious celebrities and their diet gurus are saying good-bye to gluten, dairy and sugar.  Their self-control is impressive.  But is it necessary? By Ginny Graves .  The article is a feature on page 100.  Well, we all know how I feel and how you feel if you are Celiac and gluten-free, that yes it is necessary!  Regardless of the reasoning of the article, it does explain Celiac Disease and the gluten-free diet in simpler terms which is definitely helpful when needing to understand, have someone else understand or just easy to explain it to someone else who is less knowledgeable on the topic. The article talks about the diet, the drawbacks, the pro's, the con's, the symptoms, what gluten does to your body and the article also gives substitutes for the gluten you are banishing. It's an a
