The mission behind this add? To get my smoothies thicker without using bananas or avocado.
The verdict? Totally awesome!
The add? Pumpkin puree (from a can)! No you don't have to buy the pumpkin, cut it open and puree it yourself. That's just too much work, unless you of course want to…
Make sure you read the pumpkin puree label for the gluten-free type!!
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
1 cup melted blueberries plus syrup (about 1 1/2 cups non melted)
2 tsp. hemp seeds
2 T. pumpkin seeds
4 T. pumpkin puree
1 Medjool Date
1/2 scoop Sun Warrior Rice Protein Powder (non-flavored) (You can sub in vanilla flavored)
1/2 Tigernut milk (use any non-dairy milk you want)
1/2 cup water
7 ice cubes plus additional ice cubes for serving
Optional Superfood add-1 tsp. Maca Root powder
DIRECTIONS:
1. Melt blueberries in a microwave safe bowl and microwave at 1 minute intervals until the blueberries are warmed and a bit soupy. You will have about 1 tablespoon of syrup. Minimum 1 minute-Max 2.5 minutes.
2. Add 4 ice cubes and all ingredients into high speed blender and blend until smooth.
3. If you want it extra sweet now's the time to add in an additional Medjool Date
4. Add an additional 3 ice cubes and blend.
Serves 2 medium size smoothies or 1 huge Queen Smoothie.
Serve on the rocks (ice) with a fun straw and enjoy!
TIPS:
-when you melt blueberries it will require more for the smoothie.
-seeds are a great vegetarian way to get iron, minerals and protein
-protein powder added to smoothies makes you full longer.
-any non-dairy milk can be used in a smoothie either fresh or homemade such as Quinoa milk, Coconut Milk, Almond Milk, Walnut Milk, Cashew Nut Milk, Oat Milk, Hemp Milk…
-Tigernuts are not a nut but a vegetable root-this is totally nut free
-choose unsweetened non dairy milks because they contain no added sugar
